gingerbread decorating time!

On Friday night we decorated our Christmas tree. We actually decorated two, the other is in Reagan's bedroom.

Yesterday was a busy, fun day. I helped Reagan finish her diorama, which turned out pretty cool in my opinion. We also sat down and wrote her report on the project. She struggled with that for a bit, but I am a tough one and kept her going at it, and she was really happy when she realized she was almost finished. The reward for finishing all her homework was doing the gingerbread house!

A small version compared to what my family does.. my brother phoned last night and said it's getting quite ridiculous, mom has now started building gingerbread bridges over the lake (in the yard of the gingerbread house). The only thing missing on ours is the coconut as snow on the ground!

back home..

I've been missing my nieces and nephews (and brothers and sisters and parents) so much. I can't wait to get my webcam set up so I can say hello to them. I'm afraid they'll forget me sometimes!

Family

Tomorrow morning we go pick Reagan up and then head to North Carolina, where I'll meet Tim's parents, his brother and sister and nephew. I'm excited and am also a crazy person, baking cookies and making pie filling late at night before we go.

My first American Thanksgiving!

Our first apartment

I'm moving into his apartment that he's lived in for 6 or 7 years. He kept things pretty simple, focusing more on decorating his desk with speakers and monitors, so I get to decorate the rest of the house.

I'll take you for a tour through the apartment.

We start with a pretty standard entrance way. To the left goes outside, to the right is a closet. There is a hook on the wall, and I'm planning on putting a large mirror there within the next couple months.

This is the view of the living room from the entrance way. You can see where I usually sit, where my laptop is. The tv is massive, the furniture is massive. I helped carry it in, last time I lived in! *shows muscles* The rose picture on the right is one I cross-stitched years ago, and the pictures on the left are ones Rebecca Farnell framed for me, after we went to Texada Island one summer. The picture to the right of the tv is one from my Aunt, Gwen, of a sunset on Texada, and the pictures on the right are photographs from a local artist in the Comox Valley. Tim bought two, and I bought the other (without realizing it was the same person) and I framed them.

Looking back at the last photo, I realize you can't see the pictures I framed, but you can see two of them in this picture, as well as Tim's desk. Starbucks is common in our household..

This is heading down the hallway. I hung some older pictures of Tim and I and Reagan and I on the right, and some of Reagan and her cousins, and Reagan and her dad on the left!

Here's where the magic happens... the kitchen!

Add to list of things we need replaced: blinds
This is my little autumn display, we had a large carved pumpkin as well, but he rotted away. A real garbage can is in the near future as well. To the right is a door out to the back yard. We also have plans for a new square, dark wood, table, but I personally want to wait till we buy a house.

Again with the broken blinds... hanging there are some sun catchers Reagan and I painted when she was 4. I also framed one of her drawings, and I plan on switching them it out with new drawings now and again. I just really liked this one, even though it's an older drawing of hers. Ideally I'd like to have three or four frames with her art on this wall.

Pretty typical apartment kitchen. Nice big pantry. My new sewing machine found a home on the bottom shelf.

The laundry room. Just got a new washing machine, since the old one kicked it. Excellent maintenance around here, I phoned to get it fixed and an hour later I had a new washer. Now Tim wants me to break the dryer!

Reagan's bedroom. I bought her this R when she was 4. It was nice to se it up. The drawing down below says "no centipedes allowed".

Normally I clean her bedroom on Monday after she goes her her mom's house, but I didn't get to it this week! Ooops!

Our bedroom. I dream about the day we have a beautiful bed, nice matching dressers and all that.. but we both know we don't want to buy big furniture, set it up here adn then move it to a new house, so we'll wait till we buy before we buy new furniture. At that point, I also plan on getting awesome new bedding, but you know, this is comfortable and works. The crap on the left isn't usually there, but I figured putting it there was a good way to get it to go to the thrift store ;)

2008 11 13 013

This is my little corner. My nightstand with my books and my creams and my candles and things. The desk I just moved in there, my make-up is in the drawer and I have my vanity mirror that Tim bought me for my birthday. Brandi's picture is in the corner. My jewellery stuff is set up. My plans are to frame some family photos, and to make a nice fabric memo board for the wall.

The bedroom vanity.. exciting eh?

The closet, mostly full of his stuff.

And last but not least... one of the brightest bathrooms I've ever seen.

There it is, the tour of our first apartment together. Well, actually, it's his, I just pushed my way in. :P
